Hearty Oatmeal for Valentine’s Day

Tired of traditional old-fashioned oatmeal? Be creative this Valentine’s day by putting up strawberries and raisins to spice it more!

Oatmeal-1

Hubby’s favorite to munch either in breakfast or an afternoon snack would be oatmeal.  We never run out of stock of oatmeal because this is the most easiest to cook in our kitchen.

What is oatmeal all about? And why hubby is craving for this meal every now and then?

Oatmeal is said to be very  nutritious and good for the heart because its good source of dietary fiber.

Just boiled a water and put some oatmeal in a pan.  Once done,   he usually put red sugar and his meal for that day is totally complete for him.

Since he got a flu, what a better way to prepare his favorite meal is be more creative with it.

What I have in the fridge are these ingredients:

  • oatmeal
  • honey bee
  • milk
  • left-over strawberries and raisins

What hubby is doing is the same what I did.

Procedure:

  • In a small pot over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup oats and  1/2 cup water .
  • Stir it until oats are thick about 3 – 5 minutes.
  • Pour it in a bowl, add the honey and milk.    Topped it with raisins and strawberry.

Adding honey and milk depends on the taste buds.  Like me , I got a pinch of honey and milk drizzled in the whole bowl.

With hubby, its much sweeter for him.  In a bowl, he loved a 1-2 spoonful of honey and lot of milk which is much creamier for him.

Actually, when I served it, even my kiddos love the new twist of this oatmeal variety.  They did not bother to eat it when hubby is preparing the old-fashioned traditional of just boiling it.

I am now thinking of other combinations to make it more fun to it.

Hope you can try this at home.

Anyway, its a quick meal afterall.
