Marciano’s Finally at SM Southmall

My food adventure limits me to go from one place to another place because of my home location.  I am living here in the south remember?  That is the reason I came out with my other blog, www.calamba-online.com.

I only have the opportunity to eat out in the metro if my work dictates me like meetings, training and consultancy.

Great that I was fortunate to be invited when SM Southmall’s New Direction was formally launched last Nov. 17 when I shared this with my post – http://calamba-online.com/2012/11/20/sm-southmall-new-direction-2012/.

I got to discover what they called Food Street that offers a variety of cuisine – the best in the south as I am excited to check also Marciano’s that I have only seen in Greenbelt 3 whenever I was passing by.

Marciano’s name is inspired by the greatest Italian-American boxer who proved that dreams come true.  Most of the foods featured here came from New York where it all began for most early Italian immigrants.  One can expect a rustic Italian dishes with a twist of New York cuisine.

What I will be sharing with you was the combined food that I have tasted during our food trip at the launching of SM Southmall’s New Direction and the Grand Opening last Nov. 30.

Have you seen all those pizza toppings?  All were generously scattered around – from those toppings to cheese.   One pizza slice can make one stomach full.  To make it more flavorful, the pizza sauce got those spiciness and aroma.   I thought these were thin crust, too thick for me but the crunchiness is just right.

Pizza thin crust prices ranges between P 350.00 to P 400 good for 4 -5 persons.

Pastas were not overcooked.  I can say that pasta is really good because of its texture – al dente, I may say.  They know how to play around with those  succulent flavors of spices yet balancing the taste to make it truly an Italian pasta. Tasting them by portions  made me hooked, as in!

Pasta prices rangers from P 250 – 300,  good for 2 – 3 persons.  Well everything really depends on the appetite.

For the salad, bountiful servings of lettuce and tomatoes with Insalete Caprese.  I though those white ones were tofu. LOL!  Guess what, its a thick slices of  mozzarella.  I enjoyed the freshness of those veggies and  combination of those vinaigrette sauce is perfectly mixed.

This is my first time to eat meatballs, as in literally in a dish picking up those big chunks.  I always put meatballs in a pasta.  Thanks for this dish.  This gave me an idea to to cook and serve in a family menu.   Those tomato sauce is also sooo rich in flavor.

I think Jam enjoyed all those pizza and pasta even she had already those full stomach after hopping from one resto to another resto when we were there during the resto visits.  As I told to her, just enjoy all those taste to fully savor its goodness rather than eating it in full.

Since we are talking some of those Italian food with Marciano’s, it is best enjoyed with wine like this – white and red wine.  Eversince, I preferred more the red wine to be part of this joyous meal – a great combination for a sip.

Those were some of the food we have feasted.  I thought it was a bit too pricey but as I realized, those servings are big enough especially if this will be shared with family and friends.  Affordable, I may say.

I will definitely come back to taste other food that Mr. Miguel dela Rosa shared to us which I have put in a slide show below.  Anticipating to taste those burger, paella and risotto. Have you noticed the name of their menu? Those were creatively taken to blockbuster movies and showbiz personalities.
