Beef Pares for Hearty Lunch

Now I am enjoying doing some simple post here in Foods on the Spot especially recipes who are very very easy to do.  I thought most of the people knows about those recipe because it was a piece of cake.

Well, that is my perception.

Beef Pares is one of my favorite beef viand boiled and cooked to make it tenderize and saucy yet flavorful to taste.  This dish is very simple that made popular to a resto like Jonas in Manila which was also our favorite hang-out when eating pares.

Since this is rainy season and was hesitate to cook vegetables at home because of its high price, I settled to serve the family with this dish without the hassle of going to the metro just to have a taste of it.

Sharing to you my simple recipe of Beef Pares which is good for 3 – 5 persons. Well, this depends.  If they like the dish, then it would be good for 3 persons.

I usually buy beef cubes already cut in the grocery store for easy cooking.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 kilo cut into cubes beef brisket
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • crushed garlic
  • medium-sized onion
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • pepper and star anise to taste

Procedure:

  • Boil the beef cube into the water  to make it tender.
  • Saute the garlic and onion.
  • Add the tenderized beef cube and saute.
  • Pour out  the soy sauce.  Add the sugar and beef stock, then mix
  • Add black peper and star anise to taste.
  • Simmer in a few minutes

So eazzzzyyy!  Best with fried rice and cola to enjoy the dish more.
