Year 2012 began the bandwagon of Japanese katsu and continuously growing this year specifically Tonkatsu – the breaded pork cutlets.
I have already tried three of those restos who were offering it but until now, my apology, I did not have the chance and time to write my food sharing in this blog.
Anyway, the term “katsu” is a sweet dipping sauce which is likely has a similar taste with teriyaki sauce.
Overall, one can say if its really an authentic Japanese meal in terms of the breading, the fresh main dish used either if its pork, chicken, fish or seafood and last one is the dipping sauce.
Luckily, me and hubby were invited to try Tempura Japanese Grill’s new food offering , their different katsu meal.
Best part, this is located in the south which is in Alabang Town Center.
The following katsu meals are:
- Kurobuta Katsu – Price P 575.00
- Salmon Katsu – Price is 435.00
- Tuna Katsu – Price is P 415.00
- Unagi Katsu – Price is P 695
Overall, all katsu’s breading is crispy, not that saggy as oil is dripped away to make it crunchy to taste.
All the meal is juicy, soft and tender including the tuna, salmon and eel. I enjoyed more the fish especially the salmon since this is an extra-ordinary that one can eat seldom in everyday’s meal.
The dipping sauce is too sweet. I am still looking on the tangy taste to make the katsu fix meet its perfection.
Compare to other katsu offerings which some of them include unlimited rice, miso soup, pickles or unlimited cabbage w/ the fun of crushing those sesame seeds, hopefully Tempura Japanese Grill can more or less match with it or offer a unique alternatives considering the price is also the same.
Well, we dig in also with their Kaisen Raisu. This dish is not that ordinary fried rice but a meal itself.
Mixed with shrimps, scallops, cream dory and veggies like corn, carrots and asparagus together with crispy anchovies as the sidings. The taste is rich in sweetness with a twist of spiciness.
Kaisen Raisu, good for 2 – 3 persons – Price is P 180.00
If you are following me in Instagram, my last two weeks were mostly in juicing that soon I will be blogging.
Maybe this is the reason I choose Cucumber Mint shake – versatile yet a nutritious drink. This shake has a great texture and good part it’s not that sweet which makes it natural to drink.
Cucumber Mint – Price is P 80.00
If my drink is not that sweet, with hubby’s Banana Nut is a glass full of tasty tropical flavor and refreshing drink.
For dessert, we have coffee jelly which is a vanilla ice cream topped with coffee jelly spread with choco chips which gave me an idea to do this kind of confection with a twist that is perfect for this summer season.
Coffee Jelly – Price is P 75.00
Do you think we are almost full already but we were not done yet.
We find ourselves picking again our chopsticks devouring this medium-sized Makimoto Platter consist of 3-order of California Maki and 4-orders of Hawaiian Maki. I vividly remembered that I tasted all these maki with the Blogapalooza event last year as I enjoyed the taste picking them one by one.
Makimoto Platter, Medium – Price is P 699.00
At the end, I I indulge myself in a guilt-free meal getting those healthy benefits from Salmon and Tuna that has nutritional value. That is Japanese food all about which overall made Tempura Japanese Grill live up on how food is prepared and served.
Definitely, I love to comeback to try their other extensive dishes to know those other standout meals.
